AN HISTORIC CLUB
Cricket was first played at Peper Harow in 1727, when the club was first formed. Our first game was versus The gentlemen of Goodwood. The club was founded by Lord Midleton, a member of the family who owned Peper Harow Park until the end of World War II, when it was purchased by the Peper Harow foundation.
Records of Peper Harow date to Saxon times and Domesday book of 1086 records the estate of Pipereherge covering 300 acres. The 3rd viscount Midleton commissioned the present mansion in 1763, and the building was completed by Sir William Chambers in 1777.
Peper Harow CC lease the ground from the Fuller family who own the adjacent farm. Robert is a Vice President and Anthony is the Clubs' President. We have four teams, the 1st XI, 2nd XI and 3rd XI play in the local I'Anson league on Saturdays, the latter playing their home fixtures at neighbouring Shackleford, and the Sunday XI play friendly village cricket.
